Chandigarh, December 6
The UT Education Department today issued a circular to private schools in the city, asking them to accept nationally acknowledged documents like Aadhaar card, driving licence, passport and Viter ID as proof of residence during the ongoing admission process for entry-level classes. ]
A circular in this regard was issued by District Education Officer Viney R Sood today.
Notably, Chandigarh Tribune had last week highlighted the plight of parents, seeking admission for their wards to entry-level classes in the city’s private schools as many school managements refused to accept the documents mentioned as proof of residence.
Some of the most sought after city schools, including three missionary schools, had given four options- latest electricity bill, BSNL landline telephone bill, water bill and a valid rent deed with a copy of tenants verification by the police.
Following several complaints in this regard, the Chandigarh Parents’ Association had sought the intervention of Rubinderjit Singh Brar, Director, School Education, UT, in this regard.
