To eliminate fake beneficiaries and bring transparency in the Public Distribution System (PDS), the Haryana Government has decided to link all new ration cards to be issued under the National Food Security Act, 2013, with Aadhaar numbers.
Minister of State for Food and Supplies Karan Dev Kamboj today said the process of make ration cards online was progressing well and the de-duplication procedure would be completed by the end of this month.
He said a well targeted and properly functioning PDS was a key constituent of food security.
“The digitisation andcertification of more than 29.4 lakh families have already been carried out.
The master data of 9,355 fair price shops and 441 godowns has been entered and the portal, haryanafood.gov.in, is updated regularly.”
The department was implementing FEAST software and supply chain management for making allocations online, the minister said, adding “officials are being trained in software and e-PDS.
The online allocation started this month, while the supply chain management will be implemented in April”.
Kamboj said an integrated model had been finalised for the automation of fair price shops in the state.
“From October 2015, commodities are being disbursed to the beneficiaries after Aadhaar-based biometric certification through 20 fair price shops,” he added.
