MSMEs urged to register online

The Micro, Small and Medium-scale Enterprises Development Institute (MSME-DI) will focus on creating awareness and encouraging MSMEs in the State to register on the National Portal for Registration of MSMEs (Udyog Aadhaar), S. Panikasserry, director of MSME Development Institute – Chennai, told The Hindu here on Thursday.

However, in Tamil Nadu just 322 units have registered (207 micro, 107 small-scale, and eight medium-sized units). According to data available on the website of Udyog Aadhaar, as many as 1,31,014 MSMEs have registered with it at the national level and this includes 99,017 micro units, 30,818 small-scale units and 1,179 medium-sized enterprises.
