By rebranding its wallet brand and naming it as “Pay”, Smartphone giant Microsoft is planning to make a comeback in the mobile payments industry.
It option was first used in Windows phone and was later updated in Windows 10 mobile. This modification is in line with brands namely Apple (Apple Pay) and Google (Android Pay).
Windows Central has reported about the rebranding through an update via the Microsoft Store. The update also offers a new user interface to Microsoft Pay and changes the name of the feature.
This feature is expected to witness a better acceptance in India as digital and mobile payments are getting popular every passing dost the demonetisation drive.
Wallet brand Paytm, in particular, witnessed a lot of popularity during the drive. The Government-backed NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India) also unveiled the UPI interface that app developers can use to integrate with a user’s bank account.
As of now, a lot of apps, including PhonePe, Chillr, Paytm, BHIM, and Samsung Pay have integrated with the UPI already.
