Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Banwarlal observed that the linking of electoral rolls with the Aadhaar card would only make the electoral rolls transparent and error-free.
The Election Commission of India had suspended the linking of electoral rolls with the Aadhaar card following a Supreme court ruling in last August.
Talking about the increasing spending during the election campaign, Mr. Banwarlal said that the Election Commission of India would certainly disqualify those elected public representatives who spent more than the permitted amount during the campaign. However, he said that people should come forward to complain about the spending of candidates.
Addressing the gathering at a programme organised marking the National Voters’ Day here on Monday at Peepal Pahad village of Choutuppal mandal, the CEO called upon the youth to exercise their franchise during every election to elect an able leader to lead the country.
