Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma today instructed officials to arrange opening of bank counts to all labourers working in factories and registered shops. She asked to ensure Aadhar seeding of the labourers and do NCPI mapping after which the owners of factories and shops will have to make payment to them through DBT. The CS, while holding a review meeting of Labour and Employment department, directed DEOs through video conferencing giving one month deadline to complete the work.
Verma said that the labourers should not only be paid through DBT but they should also be brought under ESIC. She ordered to hold camps for opening accounts of the labourers of the unorganized sector and hold awareness campaigns for the same.
For putting a curb on child labour the CS asked them to enroll kids in schools, especially those hwo have been secured by government agencies. Verma asked to ensure admission of rescued girls in KGVBs and boys in Welfare Department’s residential schools also a monitoring need to be done on regular basis.
The department officials informed the CS that Rs 25.99 lakh have been collected as fine from employers of child labourers. The funds have been deposited in the child welfare society account. Also, 337 child labourers were found in 266 employers across the State. As many as 136 rescued kids have been admitted in school, while admission of 76 kids is under process.
The CS also directed officials to take measures for the betterment of the Bidi leave workers. Secretary of Labour, Employment and Training department Amitabh Kaushal alongwith other senior officials were present in the meeting.
