Every pensioner has to produce a life certificate every year by visiting the authorised pension-disbursing agency or presenting a certificate from the authority he served to the agency. This acts as proof of existence. The government has now launched digital Jeevan Pramaan Life Certificate, which is Aadhaar based. The service is operational only in some areas.
Who can benefit?
Pensioners of central government, state government or any other government organisations can benefit from this facility.
Pensioners can enrol by downloading the PC/Mobile application from https://jeevanpramaan.gov.in/app/download. Alternatively, they can visit the nearest Jeevan Pramaan Centre to get themselves registered.
At the time of registration, information such as Aadhaar number, pension payment order number, bank account number, bank name and pensioner’s mobile number need to be provided.
After registering, the pensioner is required to authenticate his credentials by providing his biometrics on an approved biometric scanning device. This can be done at the nearest Jeevan Praman Centre. Upon successful authentication, an SMS is sent to the pensioner’s mobile number confirming the same and provides the Jeevan Pramaan certificate ID.
The pensioner can then download the life certificate from the Jeevan Pramaan website by providing his Jeevan Pramaan ID or Aadhaar number. Likewise, the pension disbursing agency can also access and download the life certificate from the Jeevan Pramaan website.
Life certificates issued using this facility are stored in the Life Certificate Repository.
Jeevan Pramaan website also offers the facility to electronically deliver life certificates to the pension disbursing agency without manual intervention.
To access the nearest Jeevan Pramaan centre, the pensioner can use the centre locator available on the website.
