Ahmedabad: Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB), in a significant decision, made it compulsory for students to mention their Aadhaar card numbers on board examination forms for class X and XII. The board made it clear that students who do not have Aadhaar cards will not be allowed fill examination forms.
GSHSEB in a circular to all schools said that students will have to mention their Aadhaar card numbers on examination forms. The board has said that schools should collate these numbers and ensure that all students have Aadhaar cards.
Board officials said students who do not have an Aadhaar card will have to get one. The board has informed students in advance, so they have some two months to get their cards. The board has also asked schools to arrange for camps at schools for students who do not have the card.
R I Patel, secretary of the board, says, “The government has made it compulsory as it has been decided that scholarship which for students will be directly deposited in the bank and this will be processed only on the basis of the Aadhaar card. “We have hence made it compulsory,” he said.
