Palanpur: At least 91 Aadhaar cards were found lying unclaimed by the roadside in Deesa town of Banaskantha on Wednesday. The cards were discovered by Jitu Ranan and his friends from the road leading to the main market area in the town. “I found the cards on the road while parking my vehicle,” Rana said.
Rana clicked pictures of the cards on his mobile phone and informed his friends. Rana said that the cards were placed in envelopes with Rs 5 stamp on them.
Rana and friends were confused as to what to do with the cards. After deliberation, they handed over the cards to the sub-divisional magistrate Deesa, Digant Bhrambhatt.
“We have got 91 Aadhaar cards. Most of them were to be delivered to people in the villages of Deesa. I have asked the Deesa mamalatdar to ensure immediate distribution to the concerned persons,” Bhrambhatt said.
He added that the mamlatdar will also hold inquiry and take action against the erring official. According to sources, postmaster of Deesa, Praveen Chuan, has accepted the error.
