Nagpur: A RTI reply filed by the collector’s office has revealed that the Nagpur district administration has made commendable progress in Aadhaar card registration. Out of total population of 46,53,570 in Nagpur district, 46,09,851 enrolled for Aadhaar while 43,719 were yet to register for it.
Replying to a query raised by RTI activist Abhay Kolarkar, the office informed that it had received 3 lakh under the head ‘information communication’ for publicity of Aadhaar in the district. Accordingly, the office issued advertisements in various media and also conducted camps in various areas. As per the public information officer at the collectorate, the administration spent about 9,216 for the purpose.
The office failed to provide information about the services for which the card would be mandatory. It also failed to inform about solutions in case the card is lost and how to get a temporary one.
